This Hunter Valley Wedding was one of the most elegant celebrations I had the honour to photograph.
From the breathtaking venue and dreamy location, to the magnificent creations of the most talented wedding vendors.
This wedding is providing the ultimate eye-candy, including their handsome grooms, Jake and Mitchell.
So when Together Journal agreed to run it as part of their online Real Wedding feature, I knew that it wasn’t just me, thinking that this celebration was something truly special.
The Proposal.
After almost 10 years of being together, Mitchell popped the question during a summer holiday in Fiji. While Jake anticipated a proposal for many years prior to that, it wasn’t all that simple. Same sex marriage had not been legalised, and for Mitchell it was important that their vows and their commitment to one another wasn’t just accepted, but official and fully supported by the Australian government.
So when after all these years of anticipation Jake received the proposal, Mitchell was still down on one knee, when Jake’s imagination had already jumped ahead to the dream set up for their perfect wedding celebration.
The Perfect Day
The vision Jake had for their wedding day was an elegant, classic black-tie affair. He dreamt of breathtaking white flower arrangements and lots of lush greenery, complimenting the beauty of the stunning, heritage listed Pepper Creek Barrel Room.
The open five-meter wide stone fireplace was accentuated with some beautiful hanging glass candle lights, providing the perfect addition to the chandelier, towering above the bridal table.
Jake wore a hand-beaded suit, tailor-made by Couture Menswear, and Mitchell chose an elegant and timeless suit by Peter Jackson.
Overall the day was just perfection. From the incredible work of the talented team of wedding vendors to the weather and the overflowing love and joy of Jake and Mitchell’s friends and family.
I drove home that night, grinning from ear to ear and with a warm and buzzing feeling of happiness in my heart.
